Barnard 150 - Seahorse Nebula

B150

Barnard 150 is a dark nebula visible in constellation Cepheus. It is known as the Seahorse Nebula due to the shape of its largest part when viewed upside down. It absorbs most of the light that comes from the stars behind it. This molecular cloud is part of our Milky Way galaxy, one of the 182 objects cataloged by astronomer Edward E. Barnard and it is about 1200 light-years distant. The dark nebula is about 1° long and contains three dense cores labeled L1082 A, B and C. Sh2-129 is located nearby to the east.
