The Northern Part of Cygnus
This Milky Way photograph includes the northern part of the
constellation Cygnus and small parts of Cygnus, Lacerta, Cepheus, Draco and Lyra
as well. The brighest star below the image's center is Deneb, α Cygni. The
North American Nabula NGC 7000 appears prominently on Deneb's left side, due
east. Many other red emission nebulae cluster this Milky Way region, such as IC
1396 on top and the γ Cygni nebulosity near the lower edge. Another very
prominent feature with the Milky Way is the "Northern Coalsack", the large aera
of dark nebulosity with the Milky Way NNE of Deneb.
Central Cygnus Region, standard lens
photograph.
