LDN 998 is a dark nebula region in the constellation Cygnus, located about 5 degrees north of the North American Nebula. Besides nicely structured dark dust clouds the field contains blue reflection nebulae LBN 408, 409 and 411 around individual stars, and the two small red emission nebulae Sh2-120 and Sh2-121 as well as more extended and fainter emission nebulae. Other object of interest are V1331 Cygni, a young T Tauri star with the small dust disk surrounding it, and GN21.00.7, a Herbig-Haro object, which is a patch of nebulosity associated with a newborn star.
