This was one of the nicest lunar eclipses I ever experienced because of the moon's location in a rich star field in Gemini. Several stars where occulted by the moon in the course of the event.

The eclipse observation at the Heldenplatz in the center of Vienna was a public event organized by the Verein Kuffnersternwarte. Hundreds of people looked through my telescope and my binoculars, so taking these photos was not altogether easy. See an observation report about this event written by Anneliese Haika (in German).
